What are antibiotics and how do they work?

Antibiotics are medications that fight bacterial infections in people, animals, and plants. Antibiotics work by killing bacteria or inhibiting their growth through interference with metabolic processes.

Antibiotics do not act on viruses or parasites. In the animal world, they are used both in companion animals (pets) and in production animals such as birds, pigs, cows, and animals from aquaculture such as shrimp and fish such as Catfish, Carp, Salmon, and Tilapia.

Let’s talk about antibiotic use in aquaculture from the 20th to the 22nd of November!
